Die! Erlkönig! (Prototype)
Die! Erlkönig! is a deck-building adaptation of Franz Schubert's Erlkönig.
Goal: Reduce the Erlkönig's health to 0 before he either brings your health to 0 or escapes, signaled with a skull on the upper right.
Turn Gameplay:
Choose a Color: There are three colors of mana. When you choose a mana color, you get a point of mana to spend, or two points if it is a color you didn't pick a previous turn.
Main Phase: You can play cards to generate resources then spend those resources on the attack, block, or shop actions.
Playing a card: Each card has a top and bottom ability. The top ability can always be played for free. However, the bottom ability costs one mana matching the color of the line in the middle of the card.
Attack: Click an enemy to defeat it. An enemy is instantly defeated if its block value is less than or equal to your attack resource number. Fighting enemies spends these attack resources. Any attack resources left over at the end of the turn will be spent to fight the Erlkönig. However, if there is an enemy with a crown over their block value, this enemy must be defeated first before any other enemy, including the Erlkönig, can be damaged. Fireballs/instants cannot be attacked and can only be blocked. However, they are removed after their ability resolves.
Block: Similar to attack except enemies that are blocked are not removed from the board. This action costs block resources.
Shop: Spend search resources on new cards. A card's search cost is on its upper right corner.
After the player presses the end turn button the following happen: the Erlkönig is damaged by the player if the player has any remaining attack points, each enemy card attacks, and finally new enemy cards are added.
Controls: Just use the mouse to point and click. Press F4 to toggle fullscreen.
